Since 1993. Jim was first roaster to purchase this coffee.

JIM's notes...

Single Origin Notes

Located in the Southwest corner of Costa Rica, Robert Montero's farm is located within a 40,000+ acre tract of unspoiled rainforest. The Pacific breezes and cloud cover give the coffee a dense hard bean. A model organic farmer, Roberto's farm is completely off the grid. He grows his own fruits and veggies, uses hydro-electric for power, and manages the coffee farm as a way to keep the surrounding rainforest untouched. He is also fully self-sufficient in his drying and milling -- so much so that he provides support for the nearby smaller farms by bringing their coffee to market and ensuring they get a good price.

Jim was the first roaster to buy this coffee, back in 1993. The farm is truly beautiful!

Best Coffee I have ever had

I WILL NEVER DRINK ANYTHING ELSE. I like the light roast. It has no bitter taste. I have searched the internet and tried every coffee rated 1-10. I have been to other countries and had their coffees. I was attracted to Costa Rican coffee while on vacation there. I have tried every brand of Costa Rican that is in stores. I happened upon Jim's Organic Costa Rican, and even though I had never heard of it, I decided to purchase it.

I visited Finca La Amistad for 4 nights in 2011. It's a truly exceptional operation. We saw how the coffee is grown and processed, and traveled around the greater property birding. I love supporting them! The coffee is fantastic, and the work they do there fully supports healthy biodiversity, and give community support in many ways. Nothing like seeing an operation for yourself to be convinced!

This is hands down the best coffee I've ever had. If you like the taste of coffee (and not the taste of charcoal) give this one a try.

I love this coffee. I actually went to Hacienda la Amistad years ago and fell in love with their coffee. I am so thankful that Jim's stocks it. The way they make their coffee is absolutely amazing and you can taste the difference.
