Jim's Organic Coffee Helps Students in Uganda

We are proud to have received the following communique from the Costa Foundation today! Costa is our partner who has built the school where we supplied funds for science equipment as a result of our support last year.
"With thanks to Jim's Organic Coffee’s support, students at Bwesumbu PEAS High School in Uganda now have access to critical science equipment, without which it is almost impossible for them to gain the knowledge needed to pass the large practical element of their science exams.
Students in Lab
Bwesumbu High School (in Kasese District in South Eastern Uganda) has continued to grow enrollment since the school launched and there are now 510 students, 218 of whom are girls and 230 board at the school. The school has 11 teachers who teach ten subjects. Pupils performed very well in the 2015 UCE exams (equivalent to GCSE), with an average score of 3.3, a 0.2 increase from the 2014 exam results (grades 1 - 4 are a pass, with 1 being the highest grade). The school is located in beautiful surroundings, in the heart of the Rwenzori mountain range. Like most areas in this district, the local population depend heavily on coffee for their livelihoods with many local farmers working to cultivate and process the beans. Jim’s Organic Coffee is proud to support this school and these children. This is another way we go beyond our core business of buying, roasting, and providing the highest quality organic coffees.
